Q: Are you promoting a “new” diet for parrots?
Not at all! The nutrition and feeding information in “Optimal Nutrition for Parrots Made Easy” is widely available and has been for many years. We have compiled information that we have personally used with our own flocks. This dvd is a ‘photo journey’ of this preparation and storage process while providing background information about the nutrition and components of the feeding program.
Q. If this information is not "new", what is the value?
As educators for many years, we have found that there is a willingness to institute a good feeding regime when people can see or participate in the preparation process. When companion parrot owners have these tools and tips and can watch how easily these meals are to prepare and serve, they can easily implement these best nutritional practices for their own birds!
Q. Should I use the same vegetables and fruits every time I feed my birds?
Not at all. Use seasonal fruits and vegetables within the lists, or grow your own greens and fruits! (Remember: no pesticides!) Change is good, and just like us, your birds will appreciate the varied menu!
Q. What about outdated vegetables and fruits from the grocery store?
Never feed your birds anything that you wouldn’t eat yourself. Fresh is best. Save everything else for your compost!
Q. If I feed my bird a commercial seed mix along with your diet, is there anything I should avoid when purchasing?
Yes, there is. Use the highest quality, freshest seed mixture that you can find. Avoid buying seed mixes that contain peanuts in the shell. If those are the only seed mixes available to you, remove those peanuts from the seed mix and do not feed them to your birds.
